👉 My role in the project
As part of an ambitious internal project, I participated in the design of an open-world tactical RPG currently in development on Unreal Engine 5, inspired by titles such as Battle Brothers, Mount & Blade 2, and later Wartales. The goal was to combine the systemic depth of Crusader Kings III with a more modern and accessible tactical gameplay loop.
My main role was focused on the design of the game's economic and commercial systems. In particular, I:
- Designed the economic loops: resource flows, trade between regions, price evolution, scarcity, plunder.
- Defines dynamic faction mechanics influencing trade routes and random events.
- Consider a caravan management system, influenced by morale, inventory, and safe or risky routes.
- Proposed systemic models inspired by Crusader Kings III for geopolitical interactions.
At the same time, I worked on:
- The construction of the open world through procedural modules and open world level design.
- The logical and strategic distribution of points of interest: cities, trade routes, strongholds, hostile areas.
- The analysis of narrative elements to create a coherent, vibrant, and modular world.
The prototype, although promising, was not developed into a public version. However, it served as the basis for creating a presentation trailer, used at the GDC to raise funds and showcase the studio's expertise.
